Here are the key men in the Skybet stakes:
1. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 4/9
The former United super-sub is currently in his second spell in charge of Norwegian side Molde. He has guided the club to two second place finished in the Eliteserien. He has previously managed in the Premier League but spent less than nine months in charge of Cardiff, relegated to the Championship and enduring a run of three defeats in seven second tier matches. During the summer, Glenavon beat Solskjaer's Modle 2-1 at Mourneview Park in the Europa League, although were dismissed 5-1 in the return leg.
2. Laurent Blanc 13/2
The former Manchester United defender has turned into a highly respected coach since leaving Old Trafford in 2003. He won Ligue 1 with Bordeaux in 2009 and took charge of the French national team a year later. His side were beaten by Spain in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals but the boss went on to enjoy a highly successful three year spell in charge of PSG. He won the French league in all three seasons, named Manager of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
3. Zinedine Zidane 7/1
The French hero is currently out of football, having made the shock decision to leave Real Madrid in the days following his third Champions League title in successive seasons. The French hero also led Los Blancos to the La Liga title in 2017. He had long been discussed as a potential replacement as the pressure grew on Mourinho.
4. Michael Carrick 10/1
The former United midfielder will lead training alongside Northern Irishman Kieran McKenna until the club appoint an interim boss. Having made over 300 appearances in 12 years at Old Trafford, Carrick is well respected at the club but has only joined the coaching staff this season, having retired from playing during the summer.
5. Mauricio Pochettino 14/1
The Tottenham boss is Gary Neville's choice to become the club's next chief. The Argentinian has spent five years managing in the Premier League, first guiding Southampton to an eighth place finish in his first season in charge to earn a move to Spurs. After finishing fifth in his first season in charge, Pochettino has led the north London club to three successive top three finishes. Under contract until 2023, Spurs won't be easily persuaded to let their man leave, especially for a Premier League rival.
6. Antonio Conte 14/1
Another high profile boss out of work is former Chelsea chief Conte. The Italian caused a real stir in the English game when he led Chelsea to the title in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge. He won the FA Cup last season but missing out on Champions League football via a fifth-placed finish in the table, Conte was dismissed in July.
Arsene Wenger is available at 16/1 with Carlos Queiroz at 20s. Former United duo Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt are both available at 25/1, alongside Guus Hiddink and Eddie Howe. Brendan Rodgers and Sir Alex Ferguson are 33/1 while Martin O'Neill is at 50/1.
