Who is Ethan Galbraith? All you need to know about Manchester United's Northern Ireland youth international

By Gareth Hanna

Ethan Galbraith has penned his first professional contract with Manchester United.

The Northern Irishman has secured his future at Old Trafford after only one season at the club. But what exactly do we know about him?

All you need to know about Ethan Galbraith

Age: 17 (Happy birthday for May 11th, Ethan!)

Position: Centre midfield

Home town: Glengormley

Previous clubs: Carnmoney Colts, Ballyclare Comrades, Glentoran, Crusaders and Linfield

How did he get to Manchester United? Galbraith joined in summer 2017 on a one-year scholarship deal. He had been spotted playing for Linfield U16s by United scout Tony Coulter and earned himself a trial at the club. He impressed the coaches and signed a pre-contract deal in January 2017. He didn't look back once he arrived and was a key part of United's Under 18 Premier League north title success. He featured in 14 league games during his first season, starting nine and scoring once.

Give us a Manchester United highlight so far: OK then - that one U18 Premier League goal. It was pretty good. It even won the club's Goal of the Month award for April, seeing off strikes from the likes of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku. Have a look at it right here:

What do the coaches make of him? Well former Northern Ireland international Jim Magilton, who is now working as Elite Performance Director at the Irish FA, reckons he can make the grade. He said: "I remember bringing Ethan to train with our Under-21 team when he was 16 and he was different class. He shone like a beacon in that company."
