Northern Ireland youngster Ethan Galbraith has been drafted into the Manchester United first-team squad for the first time.

The Glengormley teenager, tipped by many coaches to have a bright future in the game, is in the United panel for tomorrow's Europa League clash with Astana.

United, who have already having qualified for the knockout stage, are bringing a young side to Kazakhstan and 18-year-old Galbraith, who had spells with Crusaders and Linfield, is excited at the prospect of performing on the big stage. His first team debut is edging closer following regular outings in their Under-23 side as well as making his Northern Ireland debut this year.

The talented midfielder represented United in this year's Super Cup NI before making his senior international debut during the friendly victory over Luxembourg at Windsor Park in September.

Former Glengormley High School student Galbraith signed his first professional contract with United in May 2018 having joined the Premier League giants in 2017.

Irish FA Elite performance director Jim Magilton is among the player's admirers, stating: "If he continues to develop he has a wonderful platform to go on and become a great player. He's always been a magnificent prospect so now you hope he goes on to have a career in the game."

United are top of Group L with 10 points from four games.

Defender Max Taylor has also received his first senior call-up, 12 months after having chemotherapy treatment for testicular cancer.

Most of United's regular first-team players have stayed in England to focus on Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
