Martinez: Rodallega will find form

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has backed striker Hugo Rodallega to get back to his best.

The highly-rated Colombian has failed to find the net in 10 appearances this season and has been left on the bench for the last two Barclays Premier League games.

Bottom of the table Wigan need the 26-year-old to rediscover his form, but Martinez has defended the striker, who missed a month of action with the knee injury he picked up in September, saying: "Hugo has had a bit of a stop-start season with a couple of knocks and the injury he picked up against Everton. Now it is only fair we can share that responsibility."

He added: "We focus too much on one or two players to score the goals and that has been a little unfair. Hugo is working really hard to be helpful and effective for the team.

"Hugo is a winner and he is going to be back to his best, I am sure."

Martinez does not believe Rodallega should be affected by speculation over his future.

The former Necaxa player is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with other clubs including Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

Martinez said: "In football you need to get used to this sort of speculation.

"In many ways it is a compliment and gives you a real boost when you see you have got different admirers.

"But every comes down to getting your best level at the football club and that is where we need to help every player."
