Middlesbrough's Gaston Ramirez and Brad Guzan cleared to play football in the UK

Middlesbrough have received international clearance for Gaston Ramirez and Brad Guzan to play in the United Kingdom.

The new arrivals have featured in pre-season but only abroad due to a delay in their paperwork.

The Uruguayan midfielder and American goalkeeper have now been signed off and will be available for Saturday's final friendly against Real Sociedad.

A club statement read: "The relevant permissions have now been secured for summer signings Brad Guzan and Gaston Ramirez to play in the UK.

"The duo have only featured on foreign soil for Boro this summer, but the club has now received the green light for the pairing."

Also on Friday, Boro defender Daniel Ayala signed a new four-year contract with the Teesside club.

The Spanish centre-half, 25, first arrived at the Riverside in October 2013 on loan from Norwich and has now committed himself until 2020.

He told the club's official website: "I didn't think about anything else. I only had one decision in my mind and that was to sign with Middlesbrough.

"When I wasn't at my best Boro gave me the chance, and I've improved myself under Aitor Karanka.

"All of the fans really like me and I'm really settled here. My family are really happy here, my son was born here and hopefully my second will be born here too.

"After two hard seasons in the Championship, I can't wait (for the Premier League). It's a dream come true."
