Northern Ireland waiting for update on Evans' injury woe

By Staff Reporter

Northern Ireland fans will be hoping for good news from the Hawthorns today as West Bromwich Albion await the results of a scan on Jonny Evans' groin injury.

The 29-year-old had to be withdrawn during the first half of the Baggies' 1-0 defeat at Southampton on Saturday evening and boss Tony Pulis said: "Jonny felt his groin but hopefully that will not prove too serious and we have got to it in time.

"Obviously everyone in Northern Ireland will be a little bit concerned about Jonny and we are a little bit concerned."

Sofiane Boufal has, meanwhile, vowed to build on his wonder goal against West Brom and cement a place in the Southampton team.

The Moroccan midfielder has been mainly limited to a substitute role, but he made the most of his latest cameo. Four minutes after coming off the bench, Boufal went on a mazy run from deep inside his own half. He beat six players before finishing into the corner to secure a 1-0 victory for Saints.

"I'm so happy with the goal - for my family and all the people who have helped me. I just want to think about the future and work hard."
