Odemwingie aims for top goals tally

West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie has set himself a best ever goal target of 15 by the end of the campaign.

The Nigerian international has already netted 11 times in the Barclays Premier League this season. That equals the tally of Robert Earnshaw six years ago - the best haul for the Baggies since the top flight was rebranded in 1992.

He said: "It is a big plus for me to hold the joint record for the most Premier League goals in a season for West Brom. But my target is still to beat my best season of 14 goals. With six games to go still, it is possible to get to the 15 mark and that would be pleasing in my first season here."

Albion climbed into the top half of the table after their 3-2 win at Sunderland on Saturday meant they had collected 12 points from six games under head coach Roy Hodgson.

Odemwingie said: "We have 39 points and I think we need two more wins to be there in terms of safety.

"The coach stressed after Saturday's win that we are still not safe and that we still have to fight to stay up."
