Oldfield leaves Baggies for Dons

West Brom have announced their Under-21s coach David Oldfield is leaving the club to take up the post of head of academy coaching at Sky Bet League One outfit MK Dons.

Oldfield has served as the Baggies' senior professional development coach for the past three years.

The 46-year-old also had a brief spell assisting with first-team duties when Keith Downing took over as caretaker manager last season.

Albion director of football administration Richard Garlick told the club's website, www.wba.co.uk: "David has been a great servant to the club during his time with us.

"But due to family and professional reasons he feels the move to MK Dons is an opportunity he cannot miss - and we wish him all the best for the future."

Albion are reported to be close to appointing a new head coach with Tim Sherwood among the leading contenders to succeed Pepe Mel.
