Palace snap up free agent Kettings

Crystal Palace have completed their first signing of the summer as Scotland Under-21 international goalkeeper Chris Kettings has moved to Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have signed Kettings, 21, on a free transfer following his release from Blackpool and he will now challenge Julian Speroni and Wayne Hennessey for the number one spot in Tony Pulis' side.

Having guided Palace to an 11th-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League last season, Pulis released 12 players and has now started the re-building process by signing Kettings, who has been capped three times by Scotland's Under-21 side.

A former Manchester City youngster, Kettings never made a first-team league appearance during his time at Blackpool and spent time out on loan at Birmingham, Morecambe and York in recent times and is now looking forward to getting to work in south London.

"I'm delighted because this is a massive club," he told Palace's official website.

"Everyone who I've spoken to about Crystal Palace has only had good things to say so I think it's a massive opportunity for myself and a good club to come to.

"I'm really looking forward to working with both Julian Speroni and Wayne Hennessey as they'll both be able to teach me things and give me new perspectives so it'll be good for me to work with them."
