Ramsey set to miss key games for Gunners

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will be out until the new year with a hamstring injury.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that the Wales midfielder will be out for longer than first feared with the hamstring strain he picked up during Arsenal's 1-1 draw at Southampton last Sunday.

He said: "Ramsey will not be available. I said that he will be out for a little longer and that will be maybe three weeks that he is not in contention."

That means Ramsey will miss today's match against Newcastle, next Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final against West Ham United, the crucial Premier League game with Liverpool on December 22, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion away and then the visit of Chelsea on January 3. Arsenal then travel to Nottingham Forest for their FA Cup third round tie on January 7.

Wenger also confirmed Theo Walcott is suffering with a muscle injury. "He will not be available I think as well," Wenger said.
