Transfer deadline day in numbers
Many of transfer deadline day's biggest expected moves did not go through but there was still plenty to hold the interest as the window came to a close.
Here, Press Association Sport looks at Thursday's business, and the window overall, in numbers.
£35m - the fee agreed for Ross Barkley before the Everton midfielder pulled out of a move to Chelsea, according to Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
3 - Watford were deadline day's busiest buying club, signing Marvin Zeegelaar, Molla Wague and Orestis Karnezis.
6 - Premier League transfers which went beyond 11pm and required the use of "deal sheets" to secure extra time to complete.
2 - goals scored in France's 4-0 win over Holland by Thomas Lemar, for whom Arsenal failed with a reported £92m bid on deadline day. Paris St Germain new boy Kylian Mbappe added a last-minute strike for good measure.
9 - career Premier League goals scored, in six seasons, by Liverpool's £35m deadline-day signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
13 - Huddersfield signings in the window, the most in the Premier League and the only club with more transfers in than out. Watford (12) and Brighton (10) also hit double figures.
£75m - Romelu Lukaku's move from Everton to Manchester United involved the biggest fee spent by a Premier League club this summer and was the seventh-highest fee in the history of football.
£200.6m - elsewhere, Paris St Germain more than doubled the previous world transfer record to bring Neymar from Barcelona - who then spent £96.8m on Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele to replace him.
