Transfer Deadline Day: Man United and Arsenal battle over Edinson Cavani, Liverpool eye Real Madrid loan move

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could make a move for an out-of-favour Real Madrid winger while Edinson Cavani is high on the agenda for both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Various outlets are reporting that Cavani, the 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star, wants to leave the Parc des Princes and will make a dramatic £55m move to Arsenal or Manchester United before the 11pm transfer window slams shut later today.

ESPN are reporting that Cavani's representatives have contacted both clubs, while Metro are saying that the lines of communication are going the other way and the clubs contacted the player. Either way, the various parties are in discussions.

If the reports are correct, then it Arsenal fans may think that they are in the boxseat after a 'source' at Old Trafford sounded less than impressed by the Uruguay international.

"We’re well aware he is being hawked around everywhere," an Old Trafford 'source' told ESPN. What does it all mean? We don't know, but stay tuned and we will let you know throughout the day.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has hinted that winger Denis Cheryshev could leave the club on loan and that has the Merseysiders on red alert.

The 25-year-old Russian has struggled to make any impression on the first-team and the Reds are seen as a viable loan option until the end of the season.

“We'll see tomorrow but yes, Cheryshev could leave," Zidane told reporters.

"He's a great player but he needs to be playing regularly. The most important thing for him is that he gets minutes. He is a hard-working player and he needs to be building up playing time. I wish him the best. If he has the chance to leave, I’d be delighted for him. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

John Stones is yet again being linked with a move to Chelsea. With John Terry announcing he will be leaving the Blues at the end of the season, the central defender is reportedly top of Roman Abramovich's shopping list yet again, though reports yesterday also suggested that man City are considering a deal to entice the young star from Goodison Park.
