Purcell makes Cork move

League of Ireland side Cork City have announced the capture of Northampton striker Tadhg Purcell on loan until the end of the season.

Purcell, who has previously enjoyed spells at Kilkenny City and Shamrock Rovers, joined the Cobblers from Darlington in June 2010.

The 27-year-old Irishman has made five appearances this season during a loan return to Darlington, the last of which came at the start of October. "Tadhg will be coming in next week," Cork manager Tommy Dunne told the Irish club's official website.

He added: "Obviously we were looking to add another striker to the squad as we were a bit thin up top.

"He is a player who is experienced in the League of Ireland and has also played cross channel as well.

"He is a good finisher and he gives us another option up front, so I am pleased to have signed him."
