Ranieri makes a French connection with Nantes

By Staff Reporter

Claudio Ranieri is set to return to management with Ligue 1 club Nantes. The Italian, who led Leicester to the Premier League title last year, reportedly agreed a deal on Sunday but was awaiting approval from the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) due to him being at the 65-year age limit.

That approval was granted on Tuesday.

The LFP tweeted: "The legal Commission of the LFP has decided to allow the signing of a contract for professional coach between M. Ranieri and the @FCNantes."

The club is yet to announce Ranieri's arrival, but according to L'Equipe he will sign a two-year deal.

The much-travelled coach, who also lists Monaco, Juventus, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid amongst his former clubs, was sacked by Leicester less than a year after their incredible run to clinching the Premier League title.

With the Foxes hovering just one point above the relegation zone, the Italian was relieved of his duties on February 23 after the team returned home from a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Sevilla.
