Republic held by stubborn Norway

Republic of Ireland maintained their unbeaten start to their Under-21 European Championships qualifying campaign with a 0-0 draw against Norway.

Ireland had won their opening two games and could have had a third victory if some late pressure had been rewarded with a goal.

Reece Grego-Cox missed a golden chance when he put his shot wide late on, while Danny Kane saw a shot blocked by Sondre Rossbach, who also made a brilliant stop to deny a Ryan Manning free-kick.

The Norway goalkeeper also kept out efforts from Ronan Curtis and Declan Rice as the hosts were frustrated, but they still sit top of Group Five.
