St Johnstone played out a 1-1 draw with Drogheda United in the first of their two-match trip to Ireland.

Hosts Drogheda took the lead six minutes before half-time when new Saints defender Frazer Wright headed past his own goalkeeper Peter Enckelman from 25 yards out, but the visitors, who started with all six summer recruits, equalised soon after through Carl Finnigan's finish from a tight angle.

Alan Maybury also started for Derek McInnes's side with the defender, who played for Saints last season, having agreed a 12-month deal which will be finalised on his return to Scotland, according to the club's official website. And in the other friendly, Kilmarnock drew 0-0 with Ballymena.
