Brendan Rodgers' pride as Steven Gerrard hits out at errors

By Graham Luney

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers hailed one of the best European performances from his side after a night of mixed emotions for Scotland's Old Firm in the Europa League.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was left feeling blue after his side slumped to a 4-3 defeat to Spartak Moscow but Rodgers saluted his heroes after a superb 2-1 win over RB Leipzig at Parkhead.

"Some of our football was fantastic," said the Ulsterman. "The players showed fight and quality. It was one of our best European performances against a top side."

Gerrard slammed his side's defending, saying: "Under-12s and Under-13s know you have to clear the ball at times."

Chelsea won 1-0 at BATE Borisov to reach the last 32 and they are joined by Arsenal, who were held 0-0 at home by Sporting Lisbon.
