Celtic look to seal double signing while Rangers close in on Premier League defender: Old Firm transfer rumours
Celtic and Rangers are both closing in on further recruits to their squads, according to the Old Firm transfer rumour mill.
First up, Rangers could announce the capture of Manchester City defender Kean Bryan as early as today, according to the Scottish Sun. The 21-year-old could put pen to paper on a three-year deal worth £2.5m in wages and signing on fee.
Over at Celtic Park, the Hoops are confident they will seal the signing of Scottish international John McGinn from Hibernian, no matter how long it takes. Brendan Rodgers side have been engaged in a long pursuit of the 23-year-old and have had three bids, of £1.5m, £1.75m and £2m, rejected. Hibs are holding out for their asking price of closer to £4m, a stance that manager Neil Lennon yesterday backed when he said "the deal might never happen".
However, that's a claim that McGinn could prove false as early as January, according to the Daily Record. They report that the midfield ace wants to make the move and is prepared to wait until January, when he is able to sign a pre-contract deal at Celtic Park with his contract due to expire next summer.
If he does (eventually) join Rodgers' squad, the Hoops are hoping he will be linking up with wonderkid Daniel Arzani. The 19-year-old Australian is due to join Manchester City and the Daily Record claim that a deal is already in place to see the attacker move to Celtic Park on a two-year loan. Boss Brendan Rodgers admitted the Australian World Cup player is an identified target for the club but said he had no further knowledge of the progress of a potential deal.
