It has already been a busy transfer window for the Old Firm clubs but further deals are yet to come, according to the latest transfer rumours.

Celtic have bolstered their attacking options by bringing in Timothy Weah (loan from PSG) and Vakoun Issouf Bayo (from Dunajska Streda) as well as Scottish winger Oliver Burke (loan from West Brom).

Now attention has reportedly turned to the other end of the pitch, with the club said to be closing in on three defensive recruits.

The first is American left-back Andrew Gutman, who the Sun claims has agreed a deal to join the Hoops just a month after his trial at Rangers. The 22-year-old impressed for Indiana Hoosiers at college level in the USA, named TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Year. Most previous winners of the respected trophy have gone on to play in the MLS.

He could soon be joined by compatriot Manny Perez. The Scotsman reports that the 19-year-old American left-back has impressed during his trial at Celtic and is said to be close to finalising a deal with the Scottish champions. He currently plays for North Carolina State University.

Finally, Celtic are also considering a move for a more experienced right-back in the form of 27-year-old Omar Elabdellaoui. The Scotsman claims that the Norwegian is a potential long-term replacement for 32-year-old Mikael Lustig. Elabdellaoui, currently at Olympiakos, is expected to cost around £4m.

Meanwhile, Rangers have already added Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe to their panel this month - with Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones to arrive in the summer.

There could be more business done this month as the Daily Record claims that the Gers have launched an attempt to bring in Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson. The Scotland international is out of contract this summer and Rangers hope to be able to convince the Championship side to allow him to leave for free this month. The 32-year-old has started 17 league games for Derby this season but it is understood that the chairman is keen to trim the wage bill.

Unlike Andrew Gutman, another American trialist is set to stay at Ibrox, according to the Scotsman. That's yet another full-back - this time Chicago Fire's Matt Polster. The 25-year-old, who can also play in midfield, is at the club's training camp in Tenerife as he undergoes a final assessment before a decision on his future is made. The Wisconsin man has spent the last three years playing in the MLS and has even been capped by the USA.

Finally, Rangers are also keen to securing current loan star Ryan Kent on a permanent contract. The Liverpool winger has scored three Scottish Premiership goals so far this season and the club will open negotiations with his parent club over a more permanent deal come the summer.
