Celtic star McGinn looks to be a real heartbreaker

Niall McGinn is ready to bring the Jambos down to earth with a thud tonight.

The Celtic midfielder plans to dent Hearts’ title hopes when the heavyweights collide at Parkhead (7.45pm).

The Tynecastle men are just two points behind second-placed Rangers after defeating the Light Blues 1-0.

But Celtic remain out in front by five points and Northern Ireland international McGinn is determined to crush title dreams in Edinburgh.

The former Derry City and Dungannon Swifts favourite hasn’t forgotten the Hoops’ 2-0 defeat at Tynecastle in December.

“Hearts are on a brilliant run and it is all credit to them,” said the Donaghmore man.

“When we played them they beat us 2-0 and they showed on the day what a good team they are.

“It is always nice to see somebody outside the Old Firm pushing for the title as well.

“We need to be more than ready. We are at home now and, hopefully, the supporters can get behind us again. We were hurting after the last game.

“The manager said after the game he wanted us to go on a run and we have done it and we have been unbeaten since.

“We are looking forward to this game. It is a massive game and we will go in all guns blazing and come out winning.”

Celtic edged out Aberdeen 1-0 on Saturday but the Dons, perhaps unfortunate not to secure a draw, will be gunning for revenge when the sides meet in Saturday’s League Cup semi-final at Hampden.

“We ground it out and got the result when maybe a few weeks ago we might have conceded,” added McGinn.
