Celtic target three midfielders while Rangers agree deal for Scotland defender: Old Firm transfer rumours
Celtic have been linked with three players from south of the border in the latest edition of the Old Firm rumour mill.
The first is former Everton boy-wonder JACK RODWELL. The 26-year-old's career has been hampered by injuries and consequently, Sunderland have agreed to his request to cancel what Sky Sports called a £70,000 a year contract. Now the Sunderland Echo have claimed that Rodwell could be on his way to Scotland, with a report detailing how Brendan Rodgers' side have been monitoring the player. Rodwell has started only one Championship game this season and made the line-up for just 44 league matches during his three-and-a-half year spell on Weirside.
Celtic have also been linked with moves for two promising Chelsea players. The first of those is CHARLY MUSONDA. The club were said to be interested in the 21-year-old during the summer but now his current club are open to letting him leave on loan until the end of the season, according to the Scotsman. And the Daily Mail say Celtic are open to either a loan or a permanent move, depending on Chelsea's valuation of the player. The report also claims that Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have both enquired about the midfielder.
The same Daily Mail article links Celtic with Chelsea's Lewis Baker, who may be recalled from a loan spell at Middlesbrough this month. That's because the 22-year-old midfielder hasn't featured in the Championship since September.
Meanwhile, Rangers have agreed a deal to bring in Norwich and Scotland defender Russell Martin on loan until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports. The 32-year-old hasn't played for the Canaries since August and has since lost his place in the international squad.
The Gers also look to be on the cusp of landing Nottingham Forest forward Jason Cummings on loan until the end of the season.
The former Hibernian hero moved south during the summer but was in Glasgow on Sunday ahead of his move back to Scotland, which will include an option to make the transfer permanent this summer.
The 22-year-old has scored four goals in 10 starts and seven substitute appearances since leaving Hibernian for Forest in the summer.
The Gers, however, have had a bid for Northern Ireland midfielder Jordan Jones dismissed by Kilmarnock.
