Celtic look to England for double swoop as Rangers prepare second Lafferty bid: Old Firm transfer rumours

Celtic are looking south in a bid to improve their panel ahead of the Scottish Premiership kick-off, according to the latest transfer rumours.

The club have been linked with a move for Craig Dawson, who is reported to have handed in a transfer request at recently relegated West Brom. The Mirror have claimed that the Hoops have considered a move for the 28-year-old. However, if they are to secure the Englishman's signature, they face competition from Premier League clubs with Leicester also interested and both Burnley and West Ham said to have had bids rejected.

Meanwhile, Celtic are close to securing a deal for Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani, according to the Herald. The 19-year-old is set to move to Manchester City from Melbourne City and the Hoops are confident he will immediately head north on loan. Boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted the World Cup player is an identified target for the club but said he had no further knowledge of the progress of a potential deal.

Over at Rangers, the club are expected to up their offer for Northern Ireland forward Kyle Lafferty. Hearts rejected the Gers' opening £200k bid last week but, with the player keen on a return to Ibrox, Steven Gerrard's side are set to continue their interest. Two overseas clubs are also tracking the striker.
