Celtic's Leigh Griffiths taking indefinite football break with alleged gambling issues
Leigh Griffiths is taking an indefinite break from football to deal with what are believed to be gambling issues.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday the Scotland striker would be out for a number of months to deal with his issues.
Rodger said: "Leigh will be out of football for a little period of time. He's had ongoing issues for a number of months.
"He has done amazing to get through and score goals to the level he has. He's reached a point where it's a struggle for him.
"We are going to give him all the professional help that he possibly needs to get himself in a good place again and come back doing what he does best.
"But in order to do that he needs to find a happiness. He is a father of five children."
Rodgers declined to comment on whether the issues related to gambling, but the Scottish Record reports gambling issues are part of Griffiths' personal issues.
The move means he will miss matches including against Rangers in Ibrox at the end of the month.
