Everton opt not to pursue interest in Celtic's Tierney

By Robert Jones

Evertom have decided against acting on their interest in Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.

New Toffees boss Marco Silva had been weighing up a £25m offer for the 21-year-old, but the Bhoys gave no indication they were interested in cashing in, and Tierney - under contract until 2023 - is in no rush to leave.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, enthused about the performance of his French strike pair after a strong starting line-up warmed up for their Champions League opener with a 7-0 win over Shamrock Rovers.

Moussa Dembele and Odsdonne Edouard were both on target during the Dublin friendly in Celtic's final preparation for Tuesday's Champions League qualifying clash against Alashkert.

Ulsterman Rodgers said: "I thought they were excellent, really powerful and dynamic.

"Odsonne's movement was terrific, he makes up the fourth man in midfield but he can spin in behind."
