Hoops swoop to seal late deal for PSG starlet Edouard

By Andy Newport

Celtic last night completed the loan signing of Paris St. Germain teenager Odsonne Edouard. The Hoops had been in talks with the French giants throughout deadline day but finally pushed a deal over the line with less than two hours to go before the 11pm cut-off.

Edouard will provide Brendan Rodgers' squad with some vital extra firepower as they prepare to take on his parent club in the Champions League group stages.

And the exciting 19-year-old - who could even make a permanent move to Celtic Park if he impresses - said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Celtic, one of the world's truly great football clubs, and I can't wait to wear the famous Celtic jersey. I am really looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and we will work hard together to bring our fans as much success as possible."

Across Glasgow, there was stalemate between Rangers and Hearts over Jamie Walker.

Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha - who wrapped up a one-year loan swoop for Cardiff defender Declan John and offloaded misfit striker Joe Dodoo to Charlton on a six-month loan deal - had been trailing the Tynecastle playmaker all summer but baulked at the Jambos' £1million asking price, although he remains confident of landing the player on a pre-contract come January.

≈ GLENTORAN last night completed the signing of Northern Ireland Under-21 international midfielder Eoghan McCawl, who was released by St Johnstone at the end of last season, while Linfield defender Reece Glendinning has joined Ards on loan.
