Murty leaves Gers in a firm place for Ped

By Ronnie Esplin

Outgoing Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty is adamant the Light Blues can achieve great things under new boss Pedro Caixinha after watching the Ibrox side come from behind in a tense Old Firm derby to deny runaway league Celtics from claiming all three points for only the second time this season.

Incoming boss Caixinha was in the Celtic Park stands as Clint Hill rescued a point for the Gers following Celtic's opening goal from Stuart Armstrong.

Murty said: "The lads know what people have been saying about them so I said that they needed to take a full part in this game and that they can make a real good statement about where they can go from here and they did that.

"It shows what they can achieve if they stay together and execute things. It was about time they got their rewards because they haven't had many of late and it's a nice way to finish off."
