There is no way Dembele can play for Brendan Rodgers' Celtic again: Chris Sutton
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton says the Hoops should 'take the money' and sell star striker Moussa Dembele on transfer deadline day.
The window closes tonight at midnight and Rodgers has confirmed that the club have already rejected a 'significant offer', understood to be an £18m bid from Lyon, for the Frenchman.
The boss also said that he expects the 22-year-old to remain a Celtic player after the window closes, but Sutton says a tweet sent by the player has changed everything.
On Thursday evening, Dembele first tweeted a meme that read "A man without his word, is nothing. A real man keeps his word." He went on to clarify that his issue has 'nothing to do with people who really care about the club' and followed it with up the hashtag: #CarefulWhoYouCallTheLeaderOfYours.
Don't get it wrong Bhoys and Ghirls nothing to do with people who really care about the club @CelticFC 🤐too much love and respect for you and the crest #CarefulWhoYouCallTheLeaderOfYours pic.twitter.com/3FR1YoJLHr— Moussa Dembélé (@MDembele_10) August 31, 2018
Sutton said that Dembele was 'clearly calling out' Rodgers. He went on to call the situation a 'mess' and urged the club to be 'realistic' by letting Dembele leave and bringing in a replacement.
