Hat-trick joy for Kamberi as Hibs kick off Euro campaign in style

Hibernian 6 NSI Runavik 1

By Ronnie Esplin

Florian Kamberi hit a hat-trick as Hibernian kicked off their Europa League qualifying campaign with an emphatic 6-1 win over NSI Runavik.

Neil Lennon's side all but confirmed their place in the second round of qualifying after thrashing the side from the Faroe Islands in their first-leg clash at Easter Road.

The visitors finished with 10 men, but the damage was done in the first half as Kamberi with two, Stevie Mallan and Oli Shaw all struck.

Mallan added a second after the break, while Kamberi completed his treble in his first game since joining on a permanent deal in June.

After his side came through comfortable 6-1 winners to put themselves in pole position for the second leg, Lennon said: "His thigh was heavily strapped yesterday.

"I know there will be a lot of conspiracy theories flying about which is fine, but I am in control of this.

"He wasn't 100 per cent, and he is not 100 per cent mentally either."

Florian Kamberi hit a hat-trick for Hibs, with two goals for Stevie Mallan and one for Oli Shaw as NSI had Einar Trondargjogv sent off. Petur Knudsen scored their consolation goal.
