Kearney joy may be blow to Coleraine

Crunch time: Oran Kearney

St Mirren's vital 2-0 victory over 10-man Hamilton last night in their battle to avoid the drop from the Scottish Premiership may just have ruled manager Oran Kearney out of the running for a remarkable return to Coleraine.

The Bannsiders are searching for a new boss after terminating the contract of Rodney McAree last Friday night.

Kearney, who led the Ballycastle Road side to second in the league and an Irish Cup final triumph in 2017/18, is understood to be Coleraine's main target but if the Saints secure Premiership safety, then the ex-Linfield star is likely to stay in Scotland.

Last night's win has lifted the second-bottom Buddies to within one point of Hamilton, and with a better goal difference.

Saints travel to already-relegated Dundee in their final fixture on Saturday, with Hamilton hosting St Johnstone to determine who will finish 11th and in the relegation play-off spot.
