Oran Kearney targets Wales international as second St Mirren signing

Oran Kearney has already moved to bolster his St Mirren squad and could add his second signing soon.

Former Coleraine boss Kearney brought in Anton Ferdinand last week, throwing the centre-half into the line-up against Celtic.

Now he wants to add to his attacking options. According to STV, he's looking to bring in former Wales international David Cotterill.

Still only 30, Cotterill has 24 international caps to his name but has been out of football since his spell at Indian Super League side ATK was cut short. He arrived at the Kolkata-based side in January but stayed just a couple of months, returning to the UK for the birth of his child.

Cotterill has plenty of high level experience, spending the vast majority of his career to date in England's second tier with the likes of Sheffield United and Birmingham. There were also 18 Premier League appearances for Wigan back in 2006 and 2007.

He was included in Wales' squad for the Euro 2016 finals but failed to get off the bench. His last international appearance came against Georgia as a substitute almost two years ago.
