Player Kenny Shiels let go has last laugh

Just when you think football management can be difficult enough, spare a thought for Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels.

His side needed to win their last SPL game on Saturday, at home to bottom side Dundee, to guarantee a top six finish irrespective of other results.

A defeat would mean he'd anxiously look at Dundee United against Aberdeen and hope for a draw.

His Kilmarnock side lost their game 2-1 with a double from Gary Harkins (more about him later!).

However with the other match poised at 0-0 with 90 minutes on the clock Killie looked to have scraped into the top six on goal difference.

That was until Rory Boulding pounced in the 93rd minute to send Dundee Utd into the top half and leave Kenny and his players shattered.

The irony is that Shiels released both Harkins and Boulding in January citing that they weren't good enough for his team.

Who would be a football manager, eh?
