Rangers fans can look upwards

By Stephen Craigan

Ally McCoist finally got his hands on some silverware as Rangers manager at the weekend as his team were presented with the Scottish Third Division championship trophy.

I'm not sure it's the trophy McCoist dreamed of lifting when he was appointed full time manager two years ago, but it's where Rangers are at the moment and it's a title at the end of the day.

McCoist is well aware that there are more testing times ahead, but he will hope his younger players in particular enjoyed the occasion on Saturday and it has whetted their appetite for more.

Ally needs a hungry, vibrant squad for the club to progress and he will hope Saturday is the start of the renaissance of the fallen giants.

The Rangers supporters also showed what the club means to them by turning out in their thousands.

Success brings fans to games, there's no doubt about that, so they'll hope their problems are behind them and they can now look upwards.
