Barton will have crisis talks over Gers future

By Steven Beacom

Joey Barton will hold clear the air talks with Rangers manager Mark Warburton in his bid to stay at Ibrox after being banished from the club's training ground.

Barton was sent home from training on Tuesday following what is understood to have been a changing-room row with team-mate Andy Halliday and Warburton when discussing last weekend's 5-1 Old Firm defeat to Celtic.

The 34-year-old was informed by Warburton not to report back until Monday meaning the midfielder misses today's Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County.

The Monday meeting between Barton and Warburton is expected to determine the player's future, which is far from certain despite the ex-Manchester City man insisting he does not want to leave.

Barton, who on Thursday apologised for his 'harsh words', went on TalkSPORT yesterday to say he was still 'committed' to Rangers adding he had no issue with Halliday after their exchange of views. He is disappointed, however, that Warburton decided to banish him from training.
