Don't bother: Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says Alfredo Morelos is going nowhere

Rangers' star striker Alfredo Morelos will not be leaving Ibrox today, according to manager Steven Gerrard.

The forward is the subject of interest from Dynamo Kiev, who are preparing a £7m offer according to the Daily Mail.

However, Gerrard was in bullish mood at his lunch-time press conference and warned any potential suitors off making a move for the Colombian ahead of tonight's transfer deadline.

"I would say don't bother to any clubs thinking of bidding for Alfredo," he said.

Morelos scored 14 Scottish Premiership goals for Rangers last season and has already netted six times this term.

However, the boss did indicate that the club could yet have transfer business to complete before the window closes.

"It could possibly be a late night but hard to say at this point in the day," he said.

Gerrard will manage in his first Old Firm derby at Celtic Park on Sunday (kick-off 12 noon) but says he would prefer to be crossing the white line.

"It's a big game on Sunday against a tough team so we have to recover and prepare well. We are going there confident," he said.

"We have players in the squad with experience playing in front of a big crowd but we are aware of the challenge of playing away from home. This is a big game for me of course, I can't compare it to playing but I wish I was on Sunday. These are the games you want to be part of.

"We know Celtic will come out the blocks quick to try and get the crowd going. We have to be ready from the first whistle."
