Northern Ireland defender Gareth McAuley is expected to become Rangers' 15th signing of the summer, according to the latest rumours.
The 38-year-old is currently without a club, having left West Brom in the summer. As a result, he does not have to have completed a deal ahead of tonight's midnight transfer deadline.
He has been linked with a plethora of clubs during the close-season, from Hearts and Aberdeen in Scotland to Ipswich in the English Championship.
Now the latest report suggests the centre-half is set to follow Northern Ireland team-mate Kyle Lafferty into Ibrox.
The Herald in Scotland claims that Rangers finally followed up long-standing interest in McAuley after Thursday evening's Europa League play-off victory over Ufa. However, the report also says that McAuley has agreed terms with another unnamed club.
On a busy transfer deadline day, Rangers have already brought in Nottingham Forest defeat Joe Worrall on loan and landed NK Osijek winger Eros Grezda on a four-year deal.
Manager Steven Gerrard, speaking at lunch-time, refused to rule out a late night of transfer business, while seeming confident that the club will hold on forward Alfredo Morelos.
