Stoke cool on Celtic link to Lawrence

Stoke City have refused to comment on speculation linking Liam Lawrence with a move to Celtic.

The Hoops have reportedly tabled a bid of £1.5million for the Republic of Ireland winger as interim boss Neil Lennon attempts to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.

However, reports suggest City want around £2million for the 28-year-old.

Lennon could be confirmed as Tony Mowbray's permanent replacement in the next 48-hours and has already been linked with a number of transfer targets.

Out-of-contract Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley is another name in the frame, but Celtic could face competition from rivals Rangers, Everton, West Ham, Blackburn and Wigan.
