Striker Liam Boyce is out to avenge one that got away

By Stuart McKinley

Liam Boyce is channelling the disappointment from his lowest point as a Cliftonville player to motivate him ahead of his first final in full-time football.

The Northern Ireland international is expected to spearhead the Ross County attack when they face Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final tomorrow and although he enjoyed Irish League title and League Cup victories with the Reds it is the one that got away - the 2013 Irish Cup final defeat to Glentoran - which is in Boyce's mind ahead of the big day at Hampden Park.

"We won the league and the League Cup and were in the Irish Cup and still going out celebrating after the league title win with a couple of weeks to go," said Boyce.

"When it came to the final, we ended up losing in extra-time.

"We could have prepared better and won a treble, so it was an opportunity missed, but I learned from it."
