Stephen Douglas breaks Moyola hearts as he fires the Bannsiders into North-West Cup final

Coleraine 3-2 Moyola Park

By Jonathan McNabb

An extra-time winner from Steven Douglas helped Coleraine edge out Moyola Park to reach the final of the North-West Cup.

The Bannsiders thought they had taken the lead on 18 minutes when Gareth McConaghie's header was cleared off the line, before McCauley was alert to deny Scot Whiteside from a corner-kick.

The visitors carved out the best opportunity of the half on 40 minutes when Jason Paul was afforded too much room at the edge of the area. The striker turned his marker before dragging a crisp effort wide.

The deadlock was broken on 49 minutes when Moyola Park defender Nicky Hudson rose unchallenged from a corner to give the Bluefin Sport Intermediate side the lead.

Things got even better for Moyola when they doubled their advantage on 71 minutes as a ball into the box found Joshua Evans and the winger struck home.

However, the home side were to give themselves a lifeline on 87 minutes when Ben Wilson slammed home from close range. The comeback was complete in stoppage time when Kirk arrowed a well taken volley into the net to take it into extra-time.

The match winner arrived on 112 minutes when Douglas struck home from inside the box.

Oran Kearney's men will face Institute in the final after the Drumahoe outfit sealed a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Limavady after the game finished 2-2.
