Balde's treble earns the bragging rights for Armagh

By Keith Bailie

Alberto Balde was the toast of the SuperCupNI after he hit a hat-trick against Tyrone.

Dean McCullough's Armagh won the inter-county derby 5-1 at Anderson Park, with Tyler Marsden and Chris Hutchinson also finding the net.

In another all-local affair, County Down beat ClubNI's Under 14 side 2-1 at the Coleraine Showgrounds.

The Irish FA's School of Excellence got off to a great start when they grabbed the lead through Charlie White in the second minute That didn't last long, however, as Nassem Ouidhamlet equalised for Down with four minutes left in the half before Ruari O'Hare hit the winner early in the second period.

Conor Love, meanwhile, netted twice in Fermanagh's 3-1 win over Dundalk in Roe Mill, while Londonderry overcame Mexican side Collina 4-1 at Anderson Park. Antrim had a difficult night at the Ballymena Showgrounds, losing 4-1 to Right To Dream.

Local Rangers fans might be excited about Glentoran's deal with Nacho Novo, but there was disappointment for the young Gers at Scroggy Road, where they drew 2-2 with Plymouth Argyle.

Jack Byland's return to the tournament, exactly one year after he broke his leg on the opening day, continued to go to plan with a clean sheet in Southampton's 1-0 victory over Partick Thistle. Sheffield United beat Donegal 5-2 in Portstewart, while Columbian side Alset - thumped 10-1 by Plymouth on Monday - lost 3-1 to New Zealanders MS Select in Ballymoney.

The Strikers continued their 100% record with a 3-1 win over Swindon Town in Broughshane as fellow Americans First Choice Soccer drew 1-1 with Cherry Orchard in Rugby Avenue and North Dublin Schools beat GPS Bayern 3-2 in Portrush.
