Ex-Manchester United defender in Northern Ireland to see son follow in his star trail
Manchester United great Phil Neville will be at Coleraine Showgrounds today to watch the Red Devils Under-19s take on Celtic in a curtain raiser to next week’s SuperCupNI (kick off 5.00pm).
Neville, manager of the England women’s international team, will be here to see his son Harvey follow in his footsteps by playing for United at the world renowned tournament.
Neville senior was famously one of United’s legendary Class of ’92 who won the then Milk Cup tournament, captained by David Beckham and including Neville’s brother Gary, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Northern Ireland’s Keith Gillespie.
Another of that team, Robbie Savage, has a son, Charlie, in the United junior team at this year’s tournament.
United’s rising Northern Ireland star Ethan Galbraith will also travel but injury rules him out of today’s glamour game.
Celtic are bringing a squad of highly talented players with 17 of their 21-strong panel from Scotland.
There are two Irish teenagers in the group, midfielder Barry Coffey from Nenagh in County Tipperary and Dubliner Thomas Caffrey.
