Northern Ireland beat Denmark 2 - 1 during opening day

Northern Ireland have defeated Denmark 2 - 1 as the first matches in this year's Milk Cup kicked off across the north coast.

The side put two past Denmark to secure the win in the Elite Section of the tournament.

Northern Ireland got their campaign off to a winning start thanks to goals from Andrew Mitchell and Dion Charles.

Andrew Mitchell fired the ball home in added time during the first half, before Charles landed a strike on target in the second.

A raft of games took place on Monday - with local sides such as Co Fermanagh taking on New Zealand's Otago in the event's Premier section.

The annual youth tournament got underway on Sunday with a grand opening ceremony at Coleraine Showgrounds.

Teams from across the globe joined together to mark the start of the annual youth football tournament - parading through the Co Londonderry town ahead of the start of games.

Among the youth squads from the English Premiership's biggest clubs, as well as home grown talent, members of the New Zealand Otago team showed off their skills performing the Haka at the opening ceremony.

Thousands are set to descend on the north coast for five days of matches before the finals on Friday.
