West Brom to wear special shirts to honour Cyrille Regis against Southampton
Former West Brom, Coventry, Aston Villa and Wolves striker Regis died last month.
West Brom will honour Cyrille Regis by wearing special shirts against Southampton on Saturday.
The jerseys will feature a motif of Regis, who died aged 59 last month, celebrating one of his 112 goals for the Baggies.
Albion will mark their first Premier League home game since Regis’ passing having hosted a public memorial on Tuesday following a private funeral.
They will also spend an hour celebrating the ex-England international’s life and hold a minute’s applause before kick-off, while the shirts will be auctioned off to raise funds for a charity to be chosen by the Regis family.
Regis was recognised as a pioneer for black players during the 1970s and 1980s after experiencing racial abuse and paving the way for a new generation.
