Dropped: Northern Ireland's penalty controversy referee left off World Cup list
The referee who awarded Switzerland a penalty in their World Cup play-off win over Northern Ireland has been left off FIFA's pool of match officials ahead of the finals tournament.
Ovidiu Hategan awarded the spot-kick for a handball against Corry Evans during the 1-0 Swiss victory in the first leg. A 0-0 draw in the return match meant that Ricardo Rodriguez' converted penalty decided the tie.

FIFA has published a list of 36 referees for a World Cup seminar next weekend and the Romanian official is not on the panel, having attended the previous session which included 61 officials in April.
There are no British officials amongst the 36. The final selection of World Cup referees is due to be announced in January.
