Northern Ireland 1-3 Germany as it happened: Magennis nets late goal to leave GAWA in full voice
Northern Ireland's play-off place is still uncertain after Germany rubber-stamped their spot at the 2018 World Cup finals with a 3-1 win at Windsor Park.
The GAWA left in full voice after Josh Magennis netted a flicked header with the final act of the game.
It was an uphill battle for the hosts with only two minutes on the clock as Sebasatian Rudy slammed home an unstoppable 25 yard effort right into the top corner.
Michael McGovern made a point blank save from Sandro Wagner, who also hit the post before he went one better, smashing home the second on 21.
Northern Ireland didn't disgrace themselves against the world champions and enjoyed plenty of possession during the second period. They had a good chance in each half. The first came when Corry Evans got past his marker but Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was out quickly to block the poke at goal. And during the second half, Conor Washington skinned Jerome Boateng before blasting a shot off the top of the crossbar before Magennis went one better.
