Northern Ireland Women earn first World Cup qualifying victory

Slovakia 1-3 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland Women are off the mark with the first win of their World Cup qualifying campaign.

After defeats in their opening two fixtures, Alfie Wylie's side won 3-1 in Slovakia.

Jana Vojtekova gave the hosts a 20th minute lead but Julie Nelson slammed home before half-time to level the scores.

Rachel Furness headed in to give Northern Ireland the lead on 52 minutes and Carragh Milligan completed the scoring when she netted from close range.
