Ozil will battle back from axe and inspire Germany once again: Reus
Mesut Ozil will be a key player for Germany again despite being dropped for Saturday's crucial 2-1 win over Sweden, Marco Reus has said.
Reus (29) made his first World Cup start as Germany revitalised their campaign after the defeat to Mexico, getting the nod ahead of Arsenal midfielder Ozil.
It was the first time Ozil had not featured for Germany - who face South Korea in their final group tie tomorrow - in a major tournament match.
He had been strongly criticised by sections of the German media for his performance against Mexico, but later posted a photograph on Instagram of himself and Reus with the message: "We are one team, on and off the pitch, no matter what."
Reus said: "It shows that Mesut, despite not playing, is with the team, and is there for us. He's an extremely important player. He's one of the best in the world, I am convinced we'll see him in this tournament again."
