Poll results: The one seeded team everyone wants in the World Cup play-off draw

By Gareth Hanna

Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will discover their play-off fate this afternoon but who do the fans want to draw?

We've been asking you in our poll and it seems the most enticing prospect of the four potential opponents is Denmark.

Around two-thirds of voters opted for the Danes, even though they went up seven places in the FIFA World Rankings in Monday's update. They're unbeaten in seven competitive games and during that time they have beaten Poland 4-0 and drawn with world champions Germany. Yet they're still the best we can hope for in the draw, according to the fans.

Just under a quarter of voters, meanwhile, would like to take on Switzerland, who dropped outside the world's top ten in Monday's World Rankings update. Ireland did beat the Swiss in a friendly in March last year.

Although they seem fearsome on paper with the likes of Luka Modric in their panel, almost a tenth of voters want to have a go at Croatia. They were impressive in winning 3-0 against the Northern Irish in Belfast last November, and they did so without the likes of Modric, Ivan Perisic and Ivan Rakitic.

And it seems the team we most fear are the Italians. They are only in this section because they had the misfortune of drawing Spain in Group G. Italy dropped only seven points in qualification - five of those to Spain.
