Ronaldo heads into the record books

By Adam McKendry

Cristiano Ronaldo's fantastic World Cup continued as he became the top European international goalscorer with his headed winner in Portugal's 1-0 defeat of Morocco.

The Real Madrid superstar scored his 85th goal for his country, eclipsing Ferenc Puskas' record for Hungary and edging him one step closer to the Golden Boot after his hat-trick against Spain in their opening game.

Portugal now need only a draw against Iran in their final group clash to progress to the last-16 after the Middle Eastern side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Spain, who can also make the knockouts with a draw against the Moroccans.

Luis Suarez fired Uruguay into the knockouts as his first strike of the competition earned a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, a result that also puts hosts Russia into the last-16.
