Thomas Muller shines with double as Germany brush Norway aside

By Adam McKendry

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller was on top form for Germany as they opened their Group C campaign with a straightforward 3-0 win away to Norway.

Muller was the man of the match as he netted twice for Joachim Low's side as well as setting up Joshua Kimmich for Germany's third goal as they eased to a comfortable victory in Oslo.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring after just a quarter of an hour when he pounced on a rebound and looped the ball in before sliding a beautiful pass through for Kimmich to finish just before the break.

He then headed home emphatically on the hour mark to secure the points for the Germans, who are expected to cruise through Group C.

In the group's battle of the minnows, Azerbaijan won 1-0 away to San Marino thanks to Ruslan Gurbanov's first half header.

The hosts had Cristian Brolli sent off in the second half for a crunching tackle on Gurbanov, allowing the visitors to comfortably hold on for all three points.
