Liverpool saw their season come to a crushing end following a 3-1 defeat in a Champions League final which was settled by a stunning Gareth Bale goal and goalkeeping errors from Loris Karius.

Star man Mohamed Salah lasted just 30 minutes before sustaining a serious shoulder injury and Karim Benzema capitalised on a slack Karius throw to stab Real in front at the start of the second half, before Sadio Mane poked in a equaliser.

However, Bale stunned the Kiev crowd with a majestic overhead kick to regain the lead for the Spanish side before sealing their 13th European Cup crown with a long-range effort, which went straight through the hands of Karius.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at how social media reacted to the entertaining final in Kiev.
